有研究称，莫扎特的音乐可以提高聆听者的智商，特别是他谱的《D大调双钢琴奏鸣曲》，又称K448乐曲。
1993年，美国加州大学的神经生物学研究者戈登·肖(Gorson L.Shaw)、弗朗西斯·劳舍尔（Frances H.Rauscher）和凯瑟琳（Katherine N.Ky）发表研究论文称，聆听K448乐曲的人，在空间推理和记忆任务上，表现更好。这被称为神奇的“莫扎特效应”。
